Configuring and Setting up the Chemistry Office Printer

1. Go to control panel, click hardware and sound, click devices and printers, then click add a printer at the top of the window.

2. This step only is changed by the operating system you have. If you're on windows 8.1 use part A. If you're on 7, use part B. 

A.If a search box opens and is searching for the window, press "the printer that i want isn't listed". 
    i. Check the radio button "add a local printer or network printer with manual settings"
    ii. create a new port with the type of port being a standard TCP/IP port. Press next
    iii. IP address is: 10.255.0.74 port name can be left as the default for when it gets autofilled by entering the IP address. Press next
    iv. Next you will select the driver that is needed for this printer. The driver to select is an HP Color LaserJet M553 PCL6. If this driver isn't selectable, try pressing the windows update button towards the right side of this Window. That process will take a few minutes, but should make the driver you need available. 
    v. Once the following steps are completed the printer's software will be installed. Once this is completed, we would encourage you to print a test page to make sure that the printer was successfully set up. 

B. Press "add a local printer", press create a new port, use the dropdown menu to select "standrard TCP/IP, then press next.
    i. The next step is to enter the IP address in the box that calls for it. The IP address to enter in is 10.255.0.74
    ii. Next you will select the driver that is needed for this printer. The driver to select is an HP Color LaserJet M553 PCL6. If this driver isn't selectable, try pressing the windows update button towards the right side of this Window. That process will take a few minutes, but should make the driver you need available. 
    iii. Once the following steps are completed the printer's software will be installed. Once this is completed, we would encourage you to print a test page to make sure that the printer was successfully set up.
